What you can do here
Follow civil traffic wherever ground receivers pick it up, which is densest over Europe, North America and the busy oceanic tracks near the coasts. Airport pages such as JFK or LHR open a hub-sized view. Military aircraft are on a separate tracker so this view stays readable.
How to use this view
- Launch the map and confirm the flight count in the header is filling.
- Search a callsign or hex code if you have one.
- Click the aircraft and read the data panel. Include the time if you share a screenshot.
- Add Vessels or hazard layers only after the flight question is answered.
Data source, update rate, and limits
Aircraft positions come from public ADS-B: OpenSky Network first, with adsb.lol and adsb.fi as fallbacks. The layer refreshes about every 10 seconds. GodsView Plus adds flight replay at 1x to 40x speed, airport timetables, and takeoff, landing and emergency-squawk alerts.
Coverage depends on ground receivers, so remote oceans and deserts have gaps. Aircraft with transponders off, or whose operators limit public display, may not appear. This is not an air traffic control display.
Questions
Is this a Flightradar24 replacement?
It depends on what you need. Flightradar24 is a dedicated flight tracker with its own receiver network and history products. GodsView is a broader live map where flights sit next to ships, hazards, weather and news.
Do I need my own ADS-B receiver?
No. GodsView collects positions from public ADS-B networks, so you only need a browser.
Why did a plane jump?
Positions arrive as periodic reports, roughly every 10 seconds on this layer. Between reports the icon moves briefly from its last known position, so it can shift when a new report arrives.
Can I track one airport?
Yes. Open an airport page such as /airports/jfk, or search the city and zoom in.
Where is military traffic?
On the military flight tracker, which is a GodsView Plus layer. It shows military aircraft that broadcast ADS-B, next to civil traffic for context.
