How to use God's Eye View online
Open the hosted map, wait for the counts in the header, then choose the layer that answers your question. GodsView AI is an independent hosted map, so there is nothing to install and no API keys to set up.
Start with one layer
Open Layers, switch off what you do not need, and enable one row: Aircraft (ADS-B) for planes, Vessels (AIS) for ships, or Earthquakes and Active Fires for hazards. A highlighted row means the layer is on. With fewer layers, each icon is easier to read and click.
Search instead of scanning
The header search accepts a callsign, ICAO hex code, MMSI, launch name, camera or city. Choose a result and the map flies there. Click the icon to open its details in the data panel, and use Share to send a link that reopens the same view.
How to use this view
- Open the live map and wait until the header shows a flight or vessel count.
- In Layers, switch off everything except the feed for your question.
- Search a callsign, hex code or MMSI if you have one.
- Click a contact and read altitude, speed and the time of the last report in Data.
- Use Map for detailed work and 3D Globe for an overview.
Data source, update rate, and limits
Each feed refreshes on its own schedule: aircraft about every 10 seconds, ships about every 30 seconds, USGS earthquakes about every 2 minutes, and NASA FIRMS fires about every 10 minutes. The map is hosted, so you never enter API keys.
Everything on the map comes from public broadcasts and agency feeds. Empty water is often a gap in receiver coverage, and an aircraft that is not shown may simply not be transmitting. Do not use the map for navigation or evacuation decisions; follow official agencies.
Questions
Do I need to download God's Eye View?
Not to use GodsView. GodsView AI is a hosted website that opens in any modern browser. The open-source God's Eye View project by Bilawal Sidhu is a separate, unaffiliated globe that you install and run yourself.
Why is the map empty?
Usually every layer is switched off, or you are zoomed into a quiet area. Enable one layer, zoom out, and wait for the count in the header to fill.
Is this the GitHub globe?
No. github.com/bilawalsidhu/gods-eye-view is an open-source project you run locally. GodsView is a different, independently built hosted product. The comparison guide explains the differences.
Do I need an account?
Yes, a free one. You sign in with an email and password to open the map, and no payment is required. Plus and Pro are optional paid upgrades.
Can I share what I am looking at?
Yes. Use Share on the map to copy a link that reopens the same position, zoom and layers.
