Breaking news rewards speed but punishes wrong captions. Use this checklist before you publish a map grab.

  1. Write the claim in one sentence: place plus phenomenon.
  2. Enable only the layer that phenomenon would show.
  3. Fly to the location. Wait for the feed.
  4. Click. Record time and identifier (event id, hex, MMSI).
  5. Open USGS, fire agencies, FAA/airport, or port authority.
  6. If you publish: name the feed and time in the caption.
  7. Do not contact operators based on ADS-B. Do not quote acreage from FIRMS.
