Active fires in Nunavut
No satellite fire detections were assigned to Nunavut in the last 48 h. Across Canada there are 110 fire clusters right now. A quiet satellite picture covers passes only: small fires and fires under cloud or thick smoke may be missed, and a new fire can start between passes.
Fires are assigned to the province of the nearest listed city, so a fire close to a border can show under the neighbouring province.
Official fire information and evacuations
GodsView shows satellite detections only, not fire perimeters, containment or evacuation zones. Follow orders from local authorities.
CIFFC (ciffc.net) publishes the national wildfire situation; provinces and territories run their own wildfire services. Alertable and local emergency alerts carry evacuation orders.
About this fire map
Satellite thermal hotspots are not all wildfires: gas flares, steel works, volcanoes and planned agricultural or prescribed burns show up too. VIIRS passes over most places about twice a day, so a fire can start or grow between passes, and thick smoke or cloud can hide one.
