Are there any extreme heat warnings right now?

There are no active Extreme Heat Warnings anywhere in the United States as of Sun 1:02 pm EDT. Out of 352 active NWS alerts nationwide, none is of this type.

There is also 1 Heat Advisory in effect.

Called an "Excessive Heat Warning" until March 2025, when NWS renamed it Extreme Heat Warning.

What a Extreme Heat Warning means

Dangerously hot conditions are expected or occurring: a heat index or temperature high enough to threaten life, often for several days and with little relief overnight.

What to do during a Extreme Heat Warning

Stay in air conditioning where possible (cooling centres if not), avoid outdoor work in the heat of the day, and know the signs of heat stroke: confusion, hot dry skin, loss of consciousness. Call 911.

Watch vs warning vs advisory

A watch means the ingredients are in place and the hazard is possible: be prepared. A warning means the hazard is happening, imminent or very likely: act now to protect life and property. An advisory is for less severe conditions that are still a nuisance or risky, and a statement is information that falls below those levels.

The companion product to the Extreme Heat Warning is the Heat Advisory, with 1 active now.
