What a Heat Advisory means

Heat index values are high enough to cause heat illness for vulnerable people, below the extreme-heat warning threshold. Thresholds are set locally (often a heat index of about 100 to 105°F).

What to do during a Heat Advisory

Drink water, limit strenuous activity in the afternoon, check on older neighbours and never leave children or pets in vehicles.

Watch vs warning vs advisory

A watch means the ingredients are in place and the hazard is possible: be prepared. A warning means the hazard is happening, imminent or very likely: act now to protect life and property. An advisory is for less severe conditions that are still a nuisance or risky, and a statement is information that falls below those levels.

The companion product to the Heat Advisory is the Extreme Heat Warning, with 0 active now.
